M mount lenses compatibility list

Yesterday another lens arrived and was tested as working fine:

Voigtländer Color-Heliar 75mm f/2.5 (Leica LTM screw mount, using an LTM to M adapter)

It's a very nice lens. The size is comparable to the Zeiss 21mm ZM, but at 230 grams, it's about 50 grams lighter. Mechanically, it's on par with the Zeiss lenses. Focusing is very smooth. I actually like the ridged focusing ring better than the tabbed Zeiss one. (It's probably a left-over from how I was used to zoom and focus using Canon lenses, seeing that most rangefinder people *demand* focusing tabs...) A difference to the Zeiss lenses is that the C-H 75mm f/2.5 has half stops for it's aperture ring, while the Zeiss lenses have third stops.

It starts out sharp at f/2.5 already. The lens does not need any sharpening, or only a little bit, when used on the AA-filterless GXR-M.

According to reviews the Summarit 75mm f/2.5 is even sharper in the center, but the Voigtländer seems to have a better control of purple fringing. The Voigtländer also is about 100 grams lighter. It's price of €425 makes it a steal compared to the Leica, which comes in at aroud €1275. It's A pity that this lens is out of production. The new version is the Classic-Heliar 75mm f/1.8, but that extra stop makes it much larger, almost twice as heavy (427 grams), and more expensive (€ 629).

Very happy with this lens with regard to price/performance ratio, even though it has a "strange" 112mm FOV on the GXR-M. Luckily I know the FOV from using the 70-200 on Canon :)

Hallo guys,

I am new on this Ricoh Forum.
My name is Thomas, I live in Berlin Germany.
Last week I bought a new GXR and the M-Mount.
I ordered a Zeiss 18mm, 4.0 and I use a Summarit-M 50mm F2.5.
It works fine :D and you can add it to your compatibility list.

Best wishes
Thomas

Hi Thomas and welcome here! Thank you for your introduction and the lens report. The Zeiss lens is already on the list and I just added the Summarit. Please don't hesitate to post some photos taken with your M module! ;)

Thanks for report Katsunami! The lens is already on the list, but it's always nice to hear another opinion ;)

Ow, sh... I missed it, because I seem to habitually scroll to the Zeiss list each time :p

Thanks for the valuable list. By the way is Nokton 50/1.1 compatible ?

Please let us know as I like this lens so much. .. :p

Hello everybody,

yesterday I bought a Leica-M Summarit 2,5/75mm. It works fine with the GXR with M-Mount.
You can add it to your compatible lens list.

Hi.
I use those lenses:
Voigtlander Super wide Heliar 15mm f4.5 39mm Leica.
Voigtlander Nokton 35mm f1.4 MC
Voigtlander Heliar classic 75mm f1.8
And it' all ok.
Fabio.

I own an older type Voigtlander 12mm f5.6 screw mount version that I use with an adaptor on my M6. Would it work on the M-module?

CV 12/5.6 LTM works fine on my GXR Mount. Pavel, would you please add one to the list.

Thanks,
Oleg

PS

Pavel,

please also add the following lenses I tested on M mount :
Leica R Summicron 50/2 LR
Voigtlander Ultron 35/1.7 LTM
Voigtlander Color Skopar 50/2.5 LTM
Voigtlander Nokton 40/1.4 LM

all M42 lenses works fine on M mount due to very thick M42-LM adapter

to be continued...:)

thanks,

Oleg

Additional comment regarding the SLR lenses I tested via adapter:

Canon EF Mount - all lenses should be no problem, however work only with open diaphragm.
Minolta MC/MD Mount - all lenses should be no problem.

Thanks,

Oleg

Thanks Oleg! I went to pick up my mount today and tested the lens on it with the store's demo camera and it works quite well. Focus peaking goes nuts though since absolutely everything is in focus because of its wideness :p . I'm still waiting on my own body to arrive though.

Oleg, which EF adaptor are you using? Have a Zeiss 50mm MP that I use on my 5DII and debating whether I should pick up a M mount dedicated 50 or not.
