Window Shopping

My GXR took me window shopping today. I was surprise to see that the Vienna 'dream' analogue shop had a GX200 for sale right in the middle of the window! ;)
However, fortunately the shop was shut because their was also my adolescent dream camera there...the Minolta TC-1.
Damn, it still looks beautiful! :?

BTW, I love the way the GXR focus and meter reading point selector can just pick a single label out of the crowd...I know this photograph is rubbish, but it demonstrates just how much more control the A12 give you over the P10 and S12...I grow to love it more and more!

Thats a nice group, the Minolta is nice but some of the others are no slouches. The Contax T up the back I'd have, as well as the Nikon 35Ti. I had a Leica CM for a while so the Minilux zoom would be nice to try.
We are like kids in a lolly shop!

Tim, sadly (?) this is rather a large lolly shop, which is why I try to avoid it most of the time!
My appetite is always larger than my Scottish wallet is willing to discuss...

Tim, if you look a their auction tab on the Westlicht web-site I linked on my door post, you will find the following statement:

WestLicht Auction on December 4th, 2010 ended sucessfully!

WORLD RECORD PRICES FÜR LEICA AND NIKON CAMERAS!

This auction’s highlight, a rare Leica MP2 from 1958 with a start price of 80,000 EUR, was hammered for incredible 402,000 EUR (incl. premium). The buyer now posses the most expensive Leica camera ever sold!

The results for the Nikon lots are equally impressive. Two lots of this section now share the world record for the most expensive Nikon camera on earth! The Nikon S2-E, a viewfinder camera built in 1957, was hammered for 168,000 EUR (starting price: 90,000 EUR) – for the same amount a Nikon F3 NASA from 1968 found a new owner. The selling price of this camera exceeded the start price of 16,000 EUR more than ten times!

The photo auction conducted on the same day was also a great success. The highlight of the auction was a 1914 portrait of Egon Schiele by Josef Trcka which was bought by a European dealer for 43.200 EUR incl. premium. A portrait by Gustav Klimt started at 6,000 EUR and was hammered for 15,600 EUR.

Our next WestLicht auction will be held on May 28th 2011.

All auction results can be found in the online catalogue under the relevant lot number and in the results list that can be downloaded as PDF here.

Just thought, if you had had money to spare... ;)

Andy,

Have they got any Leicas for £50..........times is hard here in Staffordshire

David

David,
seriously, who has €402,000 to spend on a Leica? Their must still be some 'super-rich' around after the bank crashes...
On the other hand, with interest rates at 1%, if my €80,000 investment swelled to €402,000, I would be rather pleased!
Guess its time to search the attic again... ;)
Cheers!

The strange world of collecting rare items. How many GXR with all modules and GRD III's could you buy for this money?
They are all just cameras after all, but its like this Leica is no longer a camera but an idol instead.
