The PX has an on-off option for abling "Super Resolution" - supposedly using this option "enhances the resolution".
I don't see why this should be turned off - are there other Ricoh P&S with this option?
IAC, I have it "on" all the time.
The handbook isn't very helpful but doess ay that 'on' increases writing time so it may be an in camera process to sharpen the image. I have it set to off - I suggest you try some on/off comparision shots - post them if you like and we can all see whether there is a visible difference.
Just reviewed the handbook, the SR setting [in P mode] enhances the image in digital zoom, between 140 and 280 mm focal length. The results are reasonable but not as good as non-digital zoom results.
There are two mentions of SR :
1) page 72 : "enhances the resolution of photographs taken with the camera"
2) page 28 : refers to the range of 2X the regular optical optical zoom (5X)
It seems that either the sentence on page 72 is misleading (applying only to digital zoom photos and not ALL photos), or else I'm not understanding the need to have an "off" option in regular shooting in the optical zoom range. I haven't seen any differences in IQ using this - even when SR is "on", pics are quite soft - small sensor.
