Now that the GXR is announced, it is time to find an 'Ricoh Friendly' (online) retailer where I/we can pre-order.
The concept is so great I want to order one NOW!

Any suggestions?

The large online stores in the Netherlands do not even bother to mention the GR Digital III, not even 4 month after launch, let alone you can order one.
Why don't you buy a Canon with 14 megapixel is the typical reaction from these Canon conformists.
So I want to order the GRX from a Ricoh friendly retailer and not so far from home this time. Are there any European Ricoh dealers who are worth it ordering from?

speak to Marcel.

i am off to visit him and will see if i can get an email, etc.

his english is quite good, but it can be difficult over the phone... i'll let you know. but, honestly, he is likely to be the first in europe to have one of these and he's just a lovely man to deal with.

cheers,

Well in the Netherlands Kamera-Express.nl has 'm on the site available for ordering.

(the GR-Digital 3 in back-order also).

I like the concept but man expensive. I would suggest to Ricoh to lower the price on the body considerably and let the people buy-into the system. If you already have the body then it becomes a far more interesting platform to build on. Now you would simply buy the GX200 if you want to have the 24-70 range and buy an Sigma DP1(s), Olympus PEN or Panasonic GF1 with pancake if you want a high Q 50mm and you would save $$$. The EP-1 pancake kit is about as expensive as the A12 lens-unit only.

i did get Marcel's email address as promised above.

for anyone wanting to order a GXR (or any Ricoh for that matter) in Europe, you can contact him here: linstantane@wanadoo.fr

tell him Cam sent you.

cheers!

I ended up ordering the GXR-S10 from Harrison Cameras in Sheffield UK. They had it on their website pretty fast after the introduction.

www.harrisoncameras.co.uk

They ship with UPS for free to the UK and continental Europe. I had previously ordered a Leica D-Lux 4 (returned it after 15 minutes..) and I am 100% satisfied with their service.

I prefer to buy from a 'passionate' store. Marcel from L'Instantané seems to be one of them as well.
I called Kamera-Express in the Netherlands as well but their response made it clear I had to look elsewhere ' If it is not on our website we do not have it'.

Now I can take a pocketable camera with me when I want and if I want DSLR-like quality, I can take the 'same' camera, but still different camera. Kudos to Ricoh for this way of new-thinking.

congratulations, ardexx!

and, yes, i'm afraid i could never consider buying a Ricoh from anybody but Marcel. there are so few of these small stores left, where the owner is passionate and knowledgeable, that i will go out of my way to support them and buy from them...

it's absolutely killing me that the launch is 10 December and i will be in NYC at the time, where i'd really love to have the GXR (w/A12 module). he was kind enough to try and figure out where i could see/buy it whilst i was there -- how sweet is that? but i told him no, only from him.... i may end up paying for it ahead of time and using my boyfriend as a pack mule

regardless, enjoy your camera!

best,
cam
