If on the competition voting page, one goes across to the percentages(on the right), one may find the scroll down lists of who voted for whom. If one is unaware of this, one is no longer..... :)

Marcus,
I've always been a bit curious and had a look to see where people's tastes are and checked out the percentages.
I do notice you can't see this with a vote in progress until you have voted, so no swaying the voters with other opinions.

Maybe Pavel leaves it open so you can check your vote is there and applied correctly.
The winner can openly be proven, and there is no ambiguity in the vote process.

Do you feel it should be a hidden vote?

Firstly, thank you for your response, Tim.

I too, am curious re peoples tastes and opinions on images in the competitions(and generally, I might add). I would defend everybody's right to vote on any image that pleases or appeals in some way to their senses. I find differences in people a wonderful thing, as well as the similarities. It's great also that people can't be swayed by others opinions in the comps, because of the way Pavel has arranged it. This doesn't seem to hinder some giving their opinions(possibly, but maybe not, trying to sway others?) before voting begins (occasionally). I do like to think though, that it's a naive mistake.

I'm not sure why Pavel has set it up this way(simply, I haven't asked), though I applaud him for doing so. IMO, he has done an absolutely astounding job in the setting up of the whole forum. It's beauty is in it's simplicity. Have visited many forums past, and cannot find anything that even comes close.

My whole point in the original comment was to let people who maybe were not aware of it know that the voting, once you vote, is totally transparent.
This is not done often enough, IMHO. I have nothing but praise.

Hope I've answered your comment satisfactorily Tim. :)

Ah yes, I see what you mean more clearly now! Sorry bout that  at least our discussion will make it clear for all (although others won't be as slow as me! ). You are correct it is a well thought out system.

We croweaters sometimes get the wrong end of the stick! ;) :D

Hi,
I too think the transparency of voting is a super idea. I am always a little perplexed therefore that, this being the case, a small number of entrants vote for themselves.
I seem to recall that Pavel reminds us that, in the true spirit of our friendly forum, we should encourage others by voting for them, even if we do think our own photograph is clearly the best! ;)
I guess that Markus's reminder of the transparency of the system will encourage us all to help others to success? :D

Anyway, keep all the wonderful entries coming in guys & girls!

Now, I always find someones elses entry better than mine. I like seeing something new I think!

Here,here!..... :D

Apologies for the delay in my response Andy

I think it is a wonderful system here. I love seeing other photographers taste and world. Often I would award a number of first prizes but alas we can't do it. For me the idea is to participate with this community and have fun doing so.
Peter

Here, here to everything said in this discussion topic :D . I am with you guys. I am disappointed, however, to notice (like you, Andy) that even after this discussion, someone still hasn't got the message with regards to voting for themselves this month...again...
