Vintage Digital Cameras

We as photographers. Well not me as such, I'm a hack of a snapper. Have the chance to sample the old school digital cameras of the past.
Last night I used a Ricoh GX with flash & a Ricoh GX8 for star trails.
I found the GX is still useable while the GX8 has had a hiding with a shot counter to match. It shows in the dead pixels.
All these old digital cameras are useable to a degree. Just gotta find that degree.

The others shots are from a Ricoh GX. With a lot less on the shot counter.

Well happy shooting to jou all & all the best to you & your family's in 2012.

Phil, also for me the first photo wins here. The sky has interesting colour tones in it. What night time was it shot?

Thanks every one for your interest in my images.
Some of the shots (GX) I found interesting as the were shot at 1600ISO & look useable.

The first shot is a composite of 27 images shot at 200 ISO f2.5 for 30 seconds. A shot every 90 seconds.
That would explain the little dots on the outta diameter of the star trails.
Then the sun up & added some blue.
90 seconds between shots was required because of on board processing & write speed for this old digital.
The GX & GX8 will only accept an SD card. So write speeds are slow. This is why i went with 90 seconds between shots

The 27 images were put into a piece of free software called Startrails by Achim Schaller.
It is available from http://www.startrails.de/html/software.html.

If you have clear night sky & a full battery, give it a go.
These shots have just been a test before i get out to the country & have a go with a faster card & camera combo.
Even better would be an AC adapter with a big capacity card.
Just remember to keep the aperture wide & no longer than 30secs max. Ya don't want to cook your sensor.
