They also look dead...which contrasts well with the burnished sky as if Armagedon is aproaching...lovely!

This is a second posting of three trees in recent times here ... and these images seem to have a great compositional aspect. I can't quite say why, its a good balance to the composition IMO.

I am astounded that the GRD III did this, I checked the flickr image and thought the IQ was excellent. Perhaps the GRD performs a little better toward the underexposure. Not to say this image is underexposed as its perfect for its representation but the lower exposure seems to improve the image.
 
Perfect. The colour emphasizes the mood greatly. #1 wins for me from these for its dynamic range and contrast.

when i was looking at you pics, i was thinking "your grd can produce nicer colors than mine".

but thelps had a good tip in his comment, "underexposure" have to try this.

Great work as always and it makes you think about what "underexposure" means. From the artisitic viewpoint these shots are perfectly exposed.
