Great streetshots! I especially like the man with flags. It seems you mastered your R4. It's old, but still good camera.

Hello, great images, I particularly like the two old gentlemen having a chat, you can only imagine what the topic is? I know my home town of Adelaide would not be well know but I had to look up Ulus Ankara in google maps to find this place - my geography is not that good, ok but not great!

Thsese are lovely. Would my Ricoh CX1 be capable of black and white images like this? I know every camera seems to specialize in different things.

Thanks folks,
Ulus is in the old city part of Ankara.
Probably, it is the most complicated part of Ankara from socioeconomic-wise.
There are also so many historical buildings.
Worth to visit.
Unfortunately, a few weeks later I dropped my R4 and it died instantly.
Hope I can find a R3 or R4 in ebay.

Great series, Cerbay!

You surely show what an oldie can do ;-)

I'm sorry about your loss, and can add now that I'm with you. My R4 just died... I'm not sure about what happened, but it turns On but no image shows on the LCD, not even when shooting. The red mark shows that shes not focusing at all... and I only a black file on the PC :-(

Perhaps she felt neglected seeing me excited by the GX200 accessories I bouhgt for Christmas?

I still have an almost new R3, but I'll miss R4 quality...

Good luck for your search!

Sorry to hear your bad luck. It's my nightmare too, to drop a camera or lens during changing.

But, what a wonderful and strong series!
Especially No.2 with it's line-compositon has for me the biggest impact.
My wife and I want to visit Istanbul next year, let's see.....

Cheers
Bernd

Nice series of images, Cerbay. I like the portrait of the man positioned in the lower right hand corner & the two men chatting is a classic. Sorry to read about your R4 giving up the Ghost. Ulus looks like an interesting place to visit.

Glad to see that in Turkey still the streetlife look similar since I was around there in the mid 80´s.
I also start my Ricoh experience with the R4 and know very well why you miss her.....now i got the GX200 and I would recommend this change to you. The GX200 got all the things you missed on the R4 (exept 73-200mm).

Exellent set of images , I like the one with the little lady sat on the floor with loverly compostion

Sally :)

Thanks for nice comments.
I feel terribly sorry for my stealth black R4.
Just after R4 I got a GRD from ebay, but unfortunately! autofocus was not working and returned it.
Now, I don't have any courage to get a GRD. I think it is risky to buy such an expensive fragile camera.
I have decided to stick with film cameras.
I already have a GR1 and rollei 35 and an Olympus XA is on the way.
I'll post some b&w photos taken with my GR1

GRDI is really somewhat fragile. Buying an old one is a bet in the lottery. Many of GRDI suffer from misaligned lens, phase detection focus problems or ADJ wheel freeze. The situation is much better in case of GRDII, which design and control quality was dramatically improved over the GRDI.
