Two Men in a Boat

I've uploaded the image instead of linking to get the exif data. This lake is a short 10 minute walk from my house. I was passing by in the car and saw these two in the boat.

Beautiful, Duane!
Has a painterly quality as in <<trompe l'oeil>> ! Curious about the EXIF: what camera, lens, etc. Did you do much PP?

I uploaded the file so you can see the Exif data. Used Nik Color Efex Pro 4.0.
 
Wow! Simply stunning shot :D . Love the colours, composition, scene. You are lucky to be living in such a place (I'm guessing this is the place where you live, going by your previous posts).

Agree with Athena, your timing of the boat putt putting past was spot on too.
While I like the colours they are a tad rich on my monitor, I'd probably back them off a bit unless this is the look you are going for?
Are they fishing for trout perhaps?

There are trout in the lake as I have a couple in the freezer. But these two were just cruising the lake viewing the fall foliage. I may take another look at the saturation but I too don't like to over do it.

On another look, I think I like the saturation where it is, it suits the image. I am going to take a look on a couple of other screens, a TV Plasma and LCD and see what it comes up like. I really like the composition, the subject matter and especially that cloudscape!
My dad and brother have keen fly fishermen since forever.
 
The colours are quite vivid also on my LCD. The whole image resembles the fake HDR tone mapping. However, the processing suits the scene very well as is and I like it much this attracting way.

I'm not a big fan of 'over strong' HRD, but this image is very well suited to such processing, and I do like the colours :)

I'm wondering if your excellent B&W processing might also work on this image, with such a good subject & composition?

Here's the original file converted to jpg straight from the DNG file. Then a B&W conversion using Nik Silver Efex Pro.

Very clear and extremely sharp , in my eyes. How do you manage that, Duane ?
I like the peaceful atmosphere, that this picture provides to me.
And the color-version has it`s own specific effect.

A bit too saturated I think. A little too dark on the right-hand side where the house is, for my taste. Otherwise I love this picture it is really brilliant in other respects reflections, positioning and foliage. Looks like a lovely place to be!
 
I have a "thing" about black and white since I got my GXR, so much so that this year I used my P10 to produce a gallery in B&W of British classic cars. This is a nice image in B&W definitely love the GXR.

Thanks for the nice comments and recommendations. I will see if I can work this image some more in the next couple days. I'm off for a two day hiking trip. Plus I may need to invest in a bigger monitor as all I have is my 15" MacBook Pro.

I think this is one I want to print professionally and want to get it right.
