Tripod Collar for M mount lens adapter

One of the problems I encountered with my Olympus OM lenses on the A12 M was that my two zooms, the 75-150mm f/4 and 35-70mm f/4, although relatively compact still placed a lot of stress on the GXRs puny tripod socket, as well as made the existing combo off-balance on a tripod. Hand holding is great when you can do it, but there are often times when using a tripod is better. So I found a tripod collar on eBay which has an inner diameter of 65mm, just a bit bigger than the 63mm diameter of my COMA lens adapter. It was a whopping $7 USD and shipped free from China. I cut a rubber strip to fit inside the collar and, voilĂ !, it works perfectly! The lens even rotates easily within the adapter for verticals. :D

Brilliant! :D Would you tell us what kind of optical performance you're getting from the Olympus zoom?

Thanks for the comment! Although I didn't yet have the tripod collar, I made some tripod-mounted test shots in late November with the two Zuiko zooms, a Zuiko 100mm f/2.8, a Leitz M-Rokkor 90mm f/4, and a Leitz Hektor 135mm f/4.5. All were shot at ISO 400 at f/8 only minutes apart. One of the interesting things I noticed is the slight color differences between the lenses. I had UV filters on all of the lenses except the Hektor. All were shot in RAW and imported via LR3. Since they were RAW I did add a touch of sharpening in LR, but nothing else was done. I feel this is fair since the GXR would've probably added even more sharpening had I used the jpegs produced by the camera. I used Mode 2 focus assist, concentrating on the handle of the barbeque grill. Since you asked about the zooms I thought you might like to see these comparison shots. Soon, I will take the zooms out for a real trial shoot w/the new tripod setup.
