So Apple put SD readers in their laptops removing the frustration of dongles and adapters. Then Ricoh make the new GR IV withMicro SD. WTF?
So I bought a GR III

I do think that MicroSD cards will be soon the trend with smaller, non-pro cameras until they are gone too. I think in the long run, only internal storage will be available with these type of cameras.

It is the same like with smartphones. You will hardly find smartphone with a card slot nowadays (no matter which size).

In the future, you just plug an USB-C cable in the camera to transfer images or charge the battery. Or you use bluetooth/Wifi. Very convenient, cheaper for the manufacturer (and for us) and it helps to keep the size small.
