the trees around

Palms and acacias - those are the trees that make up the landscape here. The date palms in cultivated orchards, the acacias out in the wild. While not as enormous as those in Africa, these acacias are a lovely sight in the desert. I thought of posting one as "my favorite landmark", but I was afraid the other acacias might get offended... ;)

I like the last one best - simple and uncluttered, with a complete view of the tree in its context. I wonder whether it would have worked better as a 1:1?

quester, another great series with your PX. I really like the way you framed #1 but they are all great.

Thanks very much everyone!

Each aspect ratio puts the emphasis on something else - I usually like to include some landscape (and clouds, which are with us for only a few months a year... ;) ).
Here are two more shots of the same tree, different angle, different time of day, different aspect ratio.
Also, one more in the orchard.

I enjoyed them all as well, the climate and the light is very similar to what we have here in South Australia. Its a very harsh direct unfiltered light in summer. Early morning it has a charm but by mid afternoon its very contrasty.

Shadow pic really makes your mind work, tells a story...I like it!
As for the landmark, I cannot imagine a better subject than the old tree with the contorted trunk. It must have lived through a thousand storms to have ended up like that...?

Enjoyed them also, Quester. If being pushed to choose a favourite, I would name #2 (the clouds nicely fitting the palm tree tops) and the last one (the shadows are perfect).
