Glad to see you. The birds image is an absolute classic, as is the movie. We enjoyed the movie, but no idea why the birds attacked? Was it because of the love birds in the cage?

Tim ask why the attack's ... i have seen the film many time's , i have it also on Video , and for sure believe that Hitchcock meant to draw one's own conclusion . For me...there was jealousy for the new blonde lady arrival in Melanie and think that the birds attacking was a symbol of this , that melanie was the 'Victim' of the mother (Lydia) and Mitch , that she should not have gone to Bodega Bay , that she should have forgot about Mitch when they parted in the San Francisco pet shop , that the Love Birds were not really for Mitch's 'much' younger sister Cathy's 'Eleventh Birthday' but were more to signify a bizarre and perhaps creepy connection between Mitch and his mother that would stop at nothing to keep control of. When melanie was attacked near the end of the film and fell into state of shock and helplesness ... the attack on the house ceased and film ended .
