Street shots from a bus (special effects)

Finally, I am posting some shots I've taken with my new GXR P10. I went into the city on Monday and tried to take pictures for this month's transportation competition. However, I decided to post some pictures here instead, as I ended up with some cool street shots. When I was on the bus, I realised I could take advantage of the honeycombed appearance of the window I was looking out of, which had an advert stuck on the outside of it. Added to that, I shot most of my pictures in B&W(TE), and in DR scene mode, then used level compensation editing in camera. Later, I did very little PP (just fixing the constrast slightly and resizing for posting on here). I will post more from this day later (as well as my actual first pics from the GXR earlier this month - been lacking in time lately :| ).

Going across the Sydney Harbour Bridge - the Sydney Opera House is in the background.

Looking up at the bus stop.

a most interesting set athena .... to choose a favourite i think the R0010669 image of people waiting :)

What is the window mesh .... solar panel :?:

thanks , Kort .

Thank you Kort :) . The mesh is a big advertisement stuck on the outside of the bus. It is semi-transparent so people can still see out of the bus. From the outside of the bus, people can see the advert, but not see in the windows it covers. Maybe, the mesh design also assists in easy removal of the advert when it's time to remove it.

Nice set, Is it a ride from the CBD across the Harbor bridge to N. Sydney? I forget that it is fall there but the leaves in the street are a good reminder. Interesting to just go with what is and take the snaps through the dotted obstruction

Thank you Mainiac :) . Yes, the bus route was exactly that - except I was going to Neutral Bay Junction, not North Sydney (still "north" though). Sounds like you are quite familiar with parts of Sydney then - when were you here? Yes, I like to "go with what is", as you never know what gems you can come up with. I didn't really know how people would receive the mesh effect, but since I liked the way the pictures turned out I posted them on here anyway, as I was interested to see what opinions people had about them.

These are nice. Just shows what you can get with a little experimentation. I like the TE tone. I know the kind of window adverts you are shooting through, we have them on some buses and coaches in UK (they make more sense from the outside).

My faves are No. 2 (because it has a sense of speed), and last one (I like the stillness and the water droplets)

thankyou athena .

yes - i know of these buses with advertisment on the widows but have never seen the result from the inside looking out . I think that the 'Travel Ticket' should be most reasonable due to the bus company charge for being a mobile advertising hoarding... though i doubt it :)

Did the Sydney Harbour Bridge (R0010568.JPG) have the signs on the windows also ? as i am wondering that from a little distance there are not noticable .

Cheers Kort

Only the side I was sitting on had the advert on the windows - that's why you get a clear view on the opposite side :)
