Strap Talk (GX200, but not only)

Thanks Pavel. I just ordered that ebay "for Ricoh" strap. For such a low price, it's not much of a risk.

Prog.

Prog, like you I found the neoprene strap too bulky to carry. My last solution still is in test mode, but I think it won't be good for those situations where a strap shouldn't be too visible... two examples: when using the small bag I'll have a strap hanging out, which may became problematic; in a concert last week, I was noticed by the staff because I had the camera hanging from the neck (also because I used the VF-1) - maybe they thought it was a "pro camera"??

I bought the "noname" Ricoh strap suggested by Prog here. It arrived last week and I thought you might be interested in some comparisons and thoughts?

Here is how it looks compared to the customized Artisan&Artist strap I bought two years ago for GRDII. AA strap is originally made for cameras with wide lugs (typically DSLR). There were no ending strings usable with small camera strap eyelets. So I cannibalized the Ricoh ST-1 strap designed for GRD ;)

The noname strap is wide and thick rubber strap. It's comfortable to wear around the neck but I seriously doubt it will be the same comfortable during the hot summer days ;) Its cheap quality is evident from the first sight and touch. And finally, the ending strings are so thin I would be really scared to use this strap for a longer time. Last pic shows the difference between the original Ricoh ST-1 string and string from the noname rubber strap. The difference is evident. The bad thing is that the worn strings cannot be replaced. So, what's the conclusion? You should not expect too much from this inexpensive strap. AA strap is maybe expensive and requires some adaptations, but it's far best strap for GRD and even GXR I ever used.
