"Stand der Dinge" by Jim Rakete

New Member
Last monday was the opening of an exhibition of the german photographer Jim Rakete in the Berlin Willy-Brandt-Haus.
I shot some photos of the artist.
I used my GXR, M-Mount and Leica Summarit 2,5/75mm.

Nice series Thomas. If you shot these in RAW, what software are you using to post process your images. As I'm not happy with how Apple Aperture is handling skin tones with the DNG files. The JPGs I capture along with the DNG seem to be more accurate.

Thanks,

Hi Duane,
thanks for your compliments! :D

For my RAWs I use CaptureOne since many years for my Nikon files and now also for my GXR DNGs.
The processing for Nikon is excellent. For Ricoh DNGs not so very much (is that English correct???). I always have to change the colours, blue is too purpel, yellow too green, and so on. Adobe's Camera Raw is much better for WB, but not usefull without browser. Though the problems with the colours I prefer C1, it's very professional.
The photos of Jim Rakete I shot in JPG and reduced only the saturation of red a little bit.

Sorry for my bad English. I think I have to learn a little bit with my 9 years old son. He is learning English at school since one year.

Your English is very good and completely understand. I too find I have to desaturate the red in the skin tones in both the DNG and Jpg files. The DNG files more than JPG.

Thanks for your quick response!

Very nice serie Thomas, I like the different expressions you captured in the various shots.

Very impressive - excellent focus (manual I suppose with the M mount) and superb depth of field. Looking at the shutter speeds I would say that you have a very steady hand and well controlled breathing - or were you able to support the camera?

You see only the sharp part of a series. :D I did not use a tripod or so.
But there are also some unsharp photos and luck is always a part of photography.
