Finally, we're back from Sri Lanka. We'd intended to go to Thailand and Cambodia but the floods put paid to that. Sri Lanka was our 4th choice behind Thailand/Cambodia, Cuba and India (Golden Triangle + Varanasi). Unfortunately, options 2 and 3 were booked up until into the new year, so Sri Lanka it had to be.
It's a stunning island and the locals are generally friendly. However, the "tour" we went on was definitely NOT what we were expecting. The roads are poor to average at best and the standard of driving has to be seen to be believed. Overtaking on the wrong side of the road on the outside curve of a bend is almost obligatory and major accidents are only avoided as a result of the volume of traffic in towns / villages keeping the speeds mercifully low.
I took my Leica R3Mot and 3 lenses (28/50/90mm) together with my Ricoh GR1s as a "backup". However, the GR1s saw a lot more action than the Leica and I'm extremely pleased with the results. Here's a few I've scanned on my Epson V750 so far. Film (1st 3) are on Ilford XP2 and (2nd 3) are on Fuji Neopan Professional 400CN. Slight sepia tone added in Silver Efex Pro but little other PP work done worth mentioning:
