Yes Peter, semi-transparent it is. Took quite a few in IR and some not. In most of the IR's you can actually see through the antennae and the shell , as you can here...well spotted.
It may seem that the snail carries it's(they are hermaphrodites)home on it's back, though it's shell is merely for protection, rest/sleep, and hibernation. On my morning walk there is often a parade of many crossing the path on the way home to the safety of their plant(usually underside), rock, etc shelters.....
We over hear don't have the taste for escargot.....though some here in this part of the world do partake in the odd witchetty grub or two..... :shock:
