slow flash sync in auto

hi there!

i just got my new GRD IV and I am generally totally happy with it.
but i don't understand the strange slow default flash sync of 1/32 in all flash options except slow flash.
i am working almost exclusively in aperture priority, then the exposure time is set to 1/32.
of course i could switch to shutter priority and choose the exposure time / flash sync myself.
but is the default flash sync really 1/32? why so slow? no other camera has a default flash sync
that is so slow. 1/60 is the minium or 1/250 maybe the rule.
is there any possibility to change this default flash sync?

i think there should me many ricoh grd users who have / had the same problem and maybe know an answer.

would be great,
thanks

You are right....I just tried it out on my GRD IV (which I've had a week) and sure enough the flash sync in aperture priority is just as you said (1/32). I tried it in program and it was 1/30 in the same conditions. However in shutter priority or manual I had no problem with 1/1000.

I can't see a way of changing it in AP. With my old GRD II and Metz external flash (not TTL of course), I always shot flash in manual mode and I expect I will do the same now with the GRD IV....it does explain to me why some of my fill-in flash shots in AP have not been as sharp as I hoped for.

May be the experts know better?

Richard

so i am not the only one who thinks that this is a rather odd feature.
i still cannot believe that a sophisticated camera like the GRD IV hasn't the option
to change this slow sync speed.
