Here are the key features of SP5/SP5 Pro (click on the link to see some more details):
- Significantly improved Noise Reduction.
- HDR from single photo.
- Significantly improved SILKYPIX AWB.
- New "Fringe"(CRA?) removal tool.
- New Backlight removal tool.
- Improved GUI.
- Support of 64bit operating systems for faster speed of processing.

Download:
Japanese version (beta) of SP5 PRO is already available for download. I'm afraid, at the moment, only for Win OS. You can get it here:

Pavel,
is this likely to be available as a 'lower-cost' upgrade from SP4 Pro? Or just as a 'new-only' purchase...
I must confess that I have not tried to download it yet, or read the details as to how the pricing works.
Andy

Andy, I can only guess that there will be a possibility to upgrade from SP4 Pro to SP5 Pro for less than full price. But as far as I know, there are no upgrading details yet. The only known information is that if you buy the SP4 Pro now (or you bought it after January 24 2011), you will get the SP5 Pro for free.

BTW, I updated the SP5 Beta installation instructions with one important step(enabling East Asia Languages in OS Regional settings) and also the SILKYPIXStr.zip file with most recent version where should be translated most of the SP5 GUI strings. So it now looks and feels like an English version ;)

It's hard to say. I like the SPP for its color reproduction and overall editing workflow. On the other hand, despite of dramatical improvement of noise processing and addition of HDR and some other features, it lacks some essential features and abilities (like better demosaicing, advanced local adjustments or more effective highlight restoration). The best you can do is to install the trial version of either program and decide yourself ;)

how long did it take last time from the windows-version of silkypix 4 to the OS X (Mac) version ?

just to know tow long it could be for the version 5.......

thanks for the answer :p

I tryed GIMP and i'm not happy with it....

thanks a lot. :p

do you find the version 5 is much better than the version 4 ?

I ask because the version 4 exists also in german and i can german better than english (my mother language is italien :D) but if the version 5 is much better than the version 4 maybe i will install the version 5.

does a user-manual also exists of the versions 5 ?

when the final version 5 will be released the old beta-version will always run on the mac ?

The main improvement I see in the Noise Reduction department. Its color noise processing is now at the same or very similar level with Adobe LR or RawTherapee. HDR from single photo is also a nice to have feature. I'm using on a regular basis, but it must be used with sense ;) What I also like is the possibility to enter the out of range values. For example, the default range of contrast slider is 0.5 - 2.5. But there could be manually entered values between 0 and 9.0. It does not work with all tools (available only in 5 or 6 tools) but it's quite useful enhancement.

i just use iso 80 if i can, so the noise processing is not really important for me....

i think i will first try for 30 days the german version and then i will see....

i don't like to have too much bugs.

thanks again for your answers. :p
