Silent shutter mode

Hi, the Silent Shutter mode in M module allows shutter speeds between 1sec and 1/8000. Hope this helps? ;)

Thanks, this is what I read when I select the ES under scenes, but I cannot see where I can set the shutter speed. If I move the dial to S I`m obviously out the the Scene mode. Under my Set Up I have ISO Auto High settings to ISO 3200/ 1/15, but when I shoot I get 1/50th. Where can I change this 1/50th? Thanks

If you wish to use the Silent Shutter mode, you must stay in the Scene mode! Then simply scroll the front wheel to change the shutter speed.

You are welcome! Please don't forget to post some pics taken with the silent shutter ;)

I guess "silent shutter mode" works after the fashion of S - shutter priority mode on the dial setting, but with its own special limitations.

I understand that it is only there so that owners can have recourse to the less than optimised setting where silence is golden.

Pavel - I have noticed that when you set the menu to playback to the evf it remains at that setting until the evf is removed - which is a logical sequence. By switching off automatic screen review then you only need bring up a playback at will. With the capture screen switched manually to evf then you have a quiet camera.

You can temporarily invoke the adj menu and the EV settings which makes sense. However the little trick of the GRD where the camera settings, ISO, Shutter Speed, etc are displayed without the lcd capture image does not work. It would be useful if the direct screen could be invoked to the lcd when the evf is not mounted but the screen is switched to evf. This would allow the various settings to be seen and manipulated in low intensity light. Especially when you can already adjust the level of brightness on the direct screen image.
