Well panonski, I'm afraid, this forum is not place for you. Most of us here are amateurs with passion for photography and absolutely no intention to become next H. C. Bresson.

>> WHY? what kind of photographer you want to be? Why you came here ?

odklizec":1dm4ig8f said:
If your plans are different, maybe you should find a better place for you and your manners?

>> I explain my manners

It's perfectly fine to not like someone's work and the way you can express your opinion is to vote for another photo. This is what's voting for. What's not fine is to publicly express YOUR PERSONAL opinion about people who voted for photo(s) you don't like, and especially to criticize the photo you don't like in such harsh tone.

>> Well, I do things in my way.

odklizec":1dm4ig8f said:
You don't like the photo? Fine! It's your right. But I'm afraid, you have absolutely NO RIGHT to criticize other people's work
>> Voting is also some kind of critic is't it?

odklizec":1dm4ig8f said:
mainly because of much shorter record on this forum.

>> Hmm... What I can say about that. Nothing.

odklizec":1dm4ig8f said:
It's your last chance to fix the things up.

>> How? To put my words back? I can apologize, but my words are still here, and I want to people look their photos in better way before them post here.
If everyone would think in that way I would love to participate here.

Hi panonski,
as the guy who posted the 'stupid birds' photograph in the August competition, I will tell you why your approach cannot work on a forum such as ours, or probably any other forum for that matter.

For the competition I take a picture. If it is terrible but I post it, then nobody votes for it, right? What do I do? I look at all the photographs posted and see the difference between my photograph and the ones who received lots of votes. Maybe I still think my picture is great, just not right for the topic or not the right type for the voters here? Well that is also OK in my opinion, what harm in that? I will learn out of this too.
You are suggesting that even if I like an image I should not post it, just in case you don’t? How could that ever work??? Even if I am in doubt about the quality of an image, I should not post it? Well, no, because I will learn to take better pictures if I do. However, if I post it and it gets enough votes to win, then it seems we are all stupid, right? Because we do not conform to your idea of what is a 'real' picture?
Actually it is really great you don’t like it. I sometimes attend photography exhibitions, and find myself absolutely hating many of the pictures there. Life! No two of us are identical in our taste, in our likes and dislikes.
So your logic is flawed my friend. I would love you to stay and join in with constructive criticism whenever you like. But rudeness and sarcasm really have no place in this forum, or any other forum I like to visit.
All the best,
Andy

Sorry Andy,

maybe I was a to much rude in case of your birds. I admit that. But actually the guy here ( in september contest ) post just a regular pic of Vespa on street. Like some photo when you sale it.

His pic don't participate in the contest, but hey... are you ____________ or what :D

And maybe this is not scary at all... But when I came here and see, that some kind of similirar pic to his Vespa

( and we have it here and I should not name them )

actually won someones voice ( FOR BEST PIC! ) I must say that something is wrong in someones head.

And your credentials are?

Mr. Panonski, do you shoot with a Ricoh camera? If so which one or if more than one please tell. Then please post some of your work. I really would enjoy seeing some of your gallery photographs.

I'm a supporting member here on Ricohforum to learn as much as I can from other Ricoh camera owners. How they use their cameras. Images from what they see through their "viewfinders/LCDs".

I'm open to any and all "constructive" critisms about the images I post here and I believe all other members here are too.

There are other forums I could hang out at but I've found this place to be a very cordial cooperate place for me a new Ricoh shooter to be me.

When a troll acts like a troll, smells like a troll, looks like a troll, I think they're probably a troll.

Other Ricohforum members please excuse my rant. I've already wasted more type than I should but I'm sorry I couldn't keep from speaking my thoughts.

I really like this place and I have hopes that someday in my travels that others here would welcome me in their world to share each others passion for Ricoh cameras and our desires to do the best we can with our own unique abilities.

Well, when someone criticizes the other, just because it is so and is found in their full right to do, and does not accept criticism for his rude behavior ... there is no need to waste more time and words. It is the first time I vote for the expulsion of a user of a forum!

Unless someone is willing to change their attitude, learn and grow (urgently, it seems) ...

All,

to summarize the conflict from my point of view: it is not the wish of all users to avoid any kind of criticism within this forum, but it is the wish of the forum-members to do it (if so) in a friendly and not hurting and constructive and respectful way. Obviously that is an issue for panonski, who seems to be of the opinion to be free to be rude and disrespectful when sending criticism (as part of freedom of expression).

But at this moment I do not agree to Rui (who already votes for exclusion), and would like to give panonski a further chance to think about his behaviour again.
Probably , and this is a recommendation to Mr panonski-, you should not answer directly to this note, and better sleep one or two nights about this conflict and the mentioned arguments.
Otherwise it could be seemed that you only want to be a "trouble-maker", that you probably are not....?

Hope that helps all,

JONIE

Hello Panonski and welcome to one of the friendliest and well respected forums there is. :)
I've stayed out of this 'debate' so far, watching and hoping you learn positively from this 'experience'.
As you may have noticed from replies to your posts, antagonism is obviously not welcome here at all. It seems to serves no real constructive purpose. Maybe it makes you feel 'good'? I can't see myself how anger and antagonism can feel good though!
Next. I 'personally' thought your photo was wonderful(!), in it's own right, and others may agree with me, or disagree, that's their right!......I didn't vote for it though, because for me, it didn't seem to fit the competition criteria(in my mind). Explanation: 'Streetlife'......well it had lots of street in it....but I couldn't see any life!....as didn't some others, hence in my view not getting my vote.(excuse my grammar pls) Others voted according to their ideas!... Wonderful isn't it, that we're all so different!....makes life grand and interesting, in my view.
.Anyway, I hope you stay with us and try to blend in and mix with others here, it really could if you let it, help a lot in many ways, not least is to learn, if you so desire, ways to constructively critcise works if that's what you're into. Myself, I never do, that's just my way. I will respect yours, when and if it's given with respect.
Yours honestly, Marcus.

panonski,

Your comments suggest that people shouldn't post what you consider bad photos. Who are you to say whether a photograph should be shown or not.

I have been taking photographs for 25 years. I have made 80% of my income for the last 20 years from my photography. I am frequently called upon to curate exhibitions. I am a judge in numerous photographic competitions each year.

Yet, I would not dream of criticising people's work in public as you have just done. Nor would I try to impose my standards. In a competition like those held here, you voice your opinion by voting. If you don't like a photograph, you don't vote for it. If someone shows a photograph in another thread (whether that be on these forums or elsewhere), isn't asking for critique and you don't like it, you don't comment. If they are asking for critique, you provide it in a constructive, non-insulting way.

Your arrogance and attitude are not cool and most definitely not welcome, in my opinion.

Hey people,

I apologize to everybody, just my thougts sayin in my sarcastic way. I like the theme, I'm the street photographer, I made beatifull pics since these contest was open.
For all of you who expect people and shoot people, I decide to give a chance to little paper airplane as an idea.

Yes, I expect that much!

I'm not just street shooter, I gave life to objects in my way of shoot, and beleive me I have quite experience in that. And that's why I decide not to post any formal life here, like women on railway station ( got one to ), people who beg for food or some money, drunk people, street perfomers, cause I knew everybody will look for that motive and I want to go OUT of that ligue, and OUT of the expecting.

Personaly because of that I don't like any photo here as I like the Phabuchan "Shine on" . It's a perfect photo, almost like a poster, and yet it's nothing so spetacular in motive. There is no sad story, there is no street life in a dirty way.
But it's perfect shot. Beutiful expression of her face. Beautifull rhitm, and black white combination pefectly suite to her.

( realize that when you gave a voice for best photo next time. Ask yourself, will you put that photo on the wall to enjoy in it every day)

As a matter a fact, I do respect someones sense of taste, but I would like to people be fair in voting. Do vote for photo who deserve to be on the wall in your room.

( reporter and documentar photo are not included in such criteria in my opinion - and we have two of them here Athena's "Rain shall not stop us" and "We have something to say" )

When someone gave voice to obviously lousy shoot that insult me a little. But hey, I was react how I'm . There is no way back :)

And another thing. I would prefer some non HDR included contest. Personally I like HDR as I do all post effects on photo, but it's not photo anymore in my opinion.
HDR should have stay in his own category.

I hope, I gave you some of my thougts sucesfully.

apologize again of my rude way to say it. ;)

Your right to your opinion, if you must have one, is respected. Your need to(once again) put photos and their owners/takers down...is not. You've just lost my vote. Sometimes sorry means nothing. To me, this is one of those times. Which is a great shame really.
I've taken the time to look at your website and found many of your images full of imagination, and in some cases extraordinary. You have a lot to offer this forum in that respect. It's such a pity. :(

You've done it once again panonski. Your apology is a backhanded one. You apologise for stating your opinion and offending, yet, you still criticise and seek to impose YOUR standards on what should and shouldn't be shown and voted upon.

What's more, you're asking people to be "fair in voting", yet, you are trying to influence the vote by your very comments.

You have no credibility as far as I'm concerned.

If I apologize it doesn't mean that I will change the things I've already done or say.

Or I will change the way I feel about some things. Don't expect that much

p.s.

Marcus thank you for your compliments

Yes, we can't change what's past, but we can be aware of our present, and be aware of the effect our opinions can have on others. Words can hurt....considering others means sometimes not saying anything, and that can be very difficult.
Nobody can or should try and change the way we feel about anything..... you're free to feel. If you're angry, be angry, doesn't mean you have to verbalise it, and take it out on those around you..It may seem to some quite cowardly for us to do this from the safety of our homes, behind a computer screen.
Take care, keep it in your heart, then show it. I know this sounds like a lecture, and I'm sorry for that. But it comes from my heart, not my head.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my posts, It's much appreciated.

OK folks, I think this debate is now over and I'm locking it.

Panonski, you, of course, have a right to express your opinion. But it's absolutely unacceptable doing so in such harsh, rude and disrespectful style you already presented. It's greatly welcome to discuss the contest photos, but it must be done AT THE END of voting phase, not in the middle of voting. And once again, it must be done in respectful and constructive way! Commenting someone's style or even taste is definitely unacceptable even in a real-life.

The Internet is bloated with trolls and rude discussions everywhere. We all at RicohForum are really PROUD to be different! As of now (after more than 4 years of running this forum), there was only one person banned because of trolling and improper manners. Please don't try to become no. 2 ;) You are welcome to stay here as long as you agree to keep your comments in generally accepted bounds of civility and with respect to each member of this forum.

Folks, this time it was really hard to select the winner, mainly because of even number of votes for three contest entries. Just before I made the final decision, Duane has asked me to not count his entry, because of his mistakenly placed vote. So I decided between marathoni's and fabuchan's entries. And despite I like both of them, winner could be only one. This time, it's Fabuchan! Congratulations mate, good work!

Well done everyone and thanks for so many nice entries in September contest! Next time I will probably increase the number of votes per member. 3 votes are definitely not enough for nearly 40 photos ;)

Arrrgh! I couldn't place my vote, too much work, too little time... :-(

... but I couldn't agree more on the winner. Congrats Fabuchan, well done! :D
