My one for today...very shallow DOF and not sure whether this adds or distracts from the image??

Nice shot Richard, these colorful mushrooms would keep me busy all day!

As for dof - personally I would have taken the shot so that all, or most, of the surface of the mushroom would have been in focus, because this is what my eye is drawn to. If there was some other central point of interest (an insect or other flower with the red surface as a background), then a shallow dof would be more suitable in my opinion.

And thanks for looking at the PX pics....

I agree with your DOF comments...I should have used a higher ISO to allow me to close the aperture about 3 stops more - these are things I only see back at home as I generally take pictures without putting on my reading glasses (a habit I should break at least for macro shots).

I had another go at this shot this morning.

I started with ISO800 & nr weak (and with my glasses on):

Still too soft/too shallow a DOF

So up to ISO1600:

Still not happy so I tried some fill-in flash:

This looked very flat on the LCD but is better on my PC.

I suppose the other approach would be a tripod and a very slow exposure - not easy to achieve around 2 active dogs and an impatient wife.

Today I had the GRD4 in my pocket so took one more picture of these red things. I used macro mode with AF & vivid colour & auto ISO....the GRD4 is so much easier to use for macro than the GXR A12 50 although when you get it right, the GXR IQ is miles ahead.

Nice job, and especially, a lot perseverance.
And good on they see that it ends up paying!
It would be necessary to proceed so has every shot, by taking
at all times that our photographic results are needed, and
would be much better there! it is what it would be necessary to make.
Thanks
