RIP my GRD

Hi guys,

Please take a moment to observe one minute of silence with me in memory of my 3-months-old GRD IV, which entered into coma tonight.

The drama happened as I was taking long exposure shots with my DSLR on the seashore.
I was leaning forward a bit too much and the little guy jumped out of my jacket pocket and felt into a salt water puddle between two rocks.

I've been lucky enough to retrieve the body and immediately removed the battery and memory card, and dried it once I was back home but I don't have much hope.
Because even if it comes back to life I know it will die from corrosion cancer soon.

It's a sad day today my friends.

My condolences but if you are sure it's going to die....well I would rinse it in fresh water and then see what happens. At this point ya can't lose anything.

Sorry for your loss,
I know I'd be upset to see my IV lost.

you may be able to get one of her sisters as a replacement or perhaps consider a GR?

Thanks for your support.

The GRD is currently under intensive care, I rinsed it with fresh water twice and now plan to rinse it with isopropyl once it's dry.

But yeah, I may buy its big brother sooner than expected ;)

To be continued.

End of story: I can switch the camera on and take pictures, but they are blurry and the mode dial is f*cked up.

I guess it's time to get the GR.

Nick, I must join in and offering condolences. Loss of a close friend is always hard, more so than the legacy of a rich but previously unknown distant uncle who has just left you his fortune.

Maybe the camera is ok but needs some internal cleaning. Obviously the cost of such work is probably beyond the value of a new replacement. But if t had not been in the water too long then it may not have penetrated too far - it seems that the electronics are not completely dead. Otherwise a home disassembly might be worth attempting - surely cannot make it any worse than it already is.
