Ricoh releases 4th function-enhancing FW update for GXR

Updated to the 1.4 yesterday. Works like a charm.

The ISO-Lo setting is an improvement I'd overlooked. But this is a nice addition for shallow DoF in bright daylight and also nice for just a thad extra slower shutter speed when trying to shoot waterfalls etc.

The focus assist is quite ingenious.

I do like the regular firmware updates from Ricoh. Evertime it's like getting a bit of a new camera for free. When exploring the new features.

Morning Remko, I haven't updated my new GXR yet and was wondering how "low" is the ISO-Lo setting? ISO 100 or 64 maybe?

Thanks,

Just put in the new firmware, what a big help in manual focus.
The ISO low appears to be ISO 100, not a selection that can be made from the ISO menu.
best

ISO-Lo is 100 equivalent (says the doc). It's not really 100 but acts like it, there's less dynamic range than 200. So as with Nikon DSLRs base ISO is 200 that has the best image quality. ISO-Lo does some tricks to slow down the speed. So nice for when you need it but not for daily use.

I'm really liking the focus assist and magnification features. There are some minor UI adjustments I would recommend - have an option to put focus assist mode under the control of the adj switch and then have a 'disp' option to switch between modes. It would also be nice to alter the colour of the peaking in mode 1... I hope that's not too much to ask. ;)
