Ricoh G700 Intervall-Option and Akku

I'm still confused why Ricoh doesn't stress this aspect more on their website... Martin

Ricoh should stress this on there sites & link back to you & your site.

Also tonight at work I had my GRD & an awesome sunset. All I needed was an open vista, full battery & a tripod to capture a fantastic timelapse of it.
Battery running low & work to do, I snapped this one shot

Merry Christmas to you all.

I took a look in the pdf-manual for the G700SE. It seems like Ricoh have dodged to implement iso Auto-high, another time. I really expected that by now to be able and lower the NR-setting somehow. To make matter worse the noise reduction probably can not be adjusted at all as the word noise not even is mentioned in the manual.

In the CX4 the noise reduction can be turned off according to the manual although I doubt it that it is entirely shut down. I didn't find auto-high iso for the CX4. Maybe removed or renamed?
According to the manuals the, the iso auto-high seem to be missing since the CX3.

And for the G700SE ftp://download.ricohpmmc.com/DC/G700SE/ ... 0se_en.pdf

I had been thinking of buying a G700 for testing-purpose only, initially and take 100 pictures as most with it to then return if I don't find it to be a real upgrade. But after this I think I rather will await the first reviews or at least sample images posted before I do anything. I'm not exactly after another water and shockproof camera. Mostly just curious how Ricoh have progressed as I kind of know the strengths and weaknesses, to me, for the last four models. The 300G, 400G, 500SE/G and G600.

I should receive the G700 soon and I will most probably start new forum section just for G-series cameras. I guess there are not much G users around, but it could be useful to have all G-related information at one place?
That about a G-series section sounds like a good idea to me. The number of users is not huge but may increase over time.
It would also be interesting to see sample-pictures taken with the G700 by you or Progo. I believe that you have got your G700 by now? I've kept look at flickr.com but so far no G700-pictures posted there or anywhere else that I'm aware of.

I got the G700 some time ago. Unfortunately, due to some other things, I was unable to test it much or even take some serious photos. I have no experience with previous G cameras, so I can't make a reliable comparison with older models. All I can say is that the G700 is really durable. I tried to drop it few times from 1.5m to ground and it survived (even turned ON) ;) The image quality is in my opinion slightly below the CX range, which is not a surprise to me considering its small sensor packed with more MP and no BIS technology like in CX cameras. On the other hand, the images appear to be more detailed due to higher resolution. NR as well as other image parameters cannot be adjusted. The camera buttons are somewhat harder to push, which is understandable considering the tough and waterproof nature of the body. I have yet to do the water resistance test. I will try to take some reasonable photos and post them in full resolution on my Flickr.

Do you mean me, Schaki, with "Progo" ?
As I told before, I have no experience with digital cameras. I am surprised how detailed fotos can be with such a little camera. Sometimes I am putting 12M just for taking a detail after. The best makro I did is with snowcristalls. The second picture I put is a serialfoto through a dirty window and today it amused me to use the Skew Correction for a tower, which becomes wider in the high. (2.foto, how it looks normally)
Sorry, if I can't give you better informations. I like this camera, but still have to learn a lot.
Fotos begins reversed, sorry.

Yes. I wrote it wrong somehow.
Thanks for showing these sample images. The noise seems to be more grainy than for the G600 which I think is nice and still better than these watercolor-pictures produced by the Pentax Optio W90 which can be seen in a review of it. http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/ ... le_images/
Same zoom and probably also same sensor as in the G700. But Ricoh looks to have managed better. I was almost a bit worried first after having seen these samples from the W90.

Thank you Schaki, I upgraded the first day.
An other thing: this week I discovered, that the clicking in the G700 can be put to mute. In same time the sound when opening the camera is mute too.

I've small question here regarding the buttons. Do they still click loudly? That was one of the to me major disadvantages with the G600, compared to some older models.

Yes, the G700 buttons do sound louder than for example GRD or CX buttons. I think it's a price we pay for greater waterproofing performance. On the other hand, the sound of pressed CX joystick is in my opinion louder than the sound of any G700 button ;)

Can I just add that I like the sound of the buttons as they are used. Even with the beep sound set to off. But the buttons do have a click sound when actuated.
Schaki said before that the 500 is less clicky than the 600. I suspect the 700 is as loud as the 600's. These are physical things as Pavel has said, it's all to do with water proofing. As for bleeps & blips, that is a audible user selection. I find the click of the buttons reassuring, industrial & solid.
The click of the button feeds back to my brain to tell me I have pressed it. GRD & GX don't have that feel.

Clicks don't bother me, and when using intervalfunction for flowermovements, it's a great feeling to hear work the camera. :D
But for lizards, I was happy too, to find the selection for muting this noise. Not sure how good are the ears of lizards, but after waiting for they comes back around the camera (in intervalmodus) I want be sure, they stay.
