R10

Oooops! I should of checked the ''News forum''

I knew about 4 being unlucky and 8 being very lucky (Chinese culture) Did not know about the 9.

Strange how they started the series with an R4.

Great to know pavel !!

I am ready to take a R8 for my wife in order to have a easy to use camera for her and ..... form Me.
I heard about that the R10 will be ready in september.

Does every one knows about the differences, if it had some real one (execpt the design) and about a ready to ship date ?

thanks denis

Hi Jonbon,

Glad to hear how pleased you are so far with the R10 and, especially, that it is more comfortable to hold than the R8.

The pictures you have posted look OK to my untutored eye. Some smudging in the further foliage but presumably this could be improved on further knowledge of the camera. Will you be experimenting with Tom Caldwell's settings? It would be interesting to know if they work, or are even appropriate, for the R10.

Haven't been able to get anything specific for pricing and availability in Switzerland yet. In any event, the "proper" B&W setting, other custom image quality settings, the better comfort and, to a lesser extent, the apparently improved flash would for me justify a premium in the pricing vs the R8.

All the best, Neil.

Dear Neil,

Thank you for your message. I need to begin to work on Mr. C.'s insightful directions with regard to the settings on the R's. Must say that the 8 is most probably, for the money, just as fine a horse in the race as the 10.

I do love the electronic level on the 10, though it is very touchy, and goes out of level quickly - though I find this just a nice challenge to use it, and keep it steady.

Very pleased with Ricoh, and my decision to go for it over the many Panasonics and Fujifilms here in the US (know they are fine cameras) - just love the Ricoh, finding it can do so much, and much more to learn.

Aloha to you there in your beautiful country, thank you again and I hope more to follow. jonbon
