Pouch for the GR

Please help!

I am really struggling to to find a pouch for my GR. I have a Kata DF 404 from my GR-IV days and it is just a little too tight for the GR.

I went into Jessops (I know) and everything they had was either too snug or way too roomy inside.

Has anyone tried the Kata DF 408?

I am not looking for a leather pouch, I need a fabric pouch with a belt loop.

Thanks.

Its a worthy hunt.

I'd like something without a zip as I find some of the metal parts can scratch screens.
Velcro while an option can be noisy. I currently use the GC-5 and while its ok, I am not a fan of it.
I don't want a half case.

For reference the GR -

Height - 6.1 cm
Width - 11.7 cm
Depth - 3.47 cm

Kata DF 408 Internal main compartment -
height(H) 11.5 cm
length(L) 7.0 cm
width(W) 5 cm

So in two directions enough internal room.
Its only the 11.7 camera size to the 11.5 of the bag.
A bit small by 2mm, but this should be able to be compensated by the flap, probably not a problem.
I like the look of it. Now to find one!

Thanks for the replies.

I take measurements with a hefty pinch of salt. The Lowepro website assured me that the Dashpoint 10 was big enough to take the GR. Alas, when I tried it in Jessops I find this claim to be untrue unless judicious use of a file was made.

Yeah, the Kata seemz to be nowhere on the web. Weird.

I know it's not fully closed but I've been using an old Sony PSP pouch and the GR fits nice and snugly inside and sort of self seals itself inside. It's quick to remove and acts as a pocket lining to keep the GR dust free. Also adds a little padding but minimal volume. You can get them fairly cheaply on ebay.

I second Tim's remarks. I don't like half cases and neck straps - too fiddly for me. I am more belt cases and wrist straps. The oem belt case from Ricoh (GC-5?) is more a holster than a protective case. Someone must have decided that it should be best for the wild-west style "quick draw" as the top flap can be removed for highly committed street shooters wearing stetson hats.

But whilst it provides convenience and high quality thick leather manufacture even with the top flap in place parts of the camera are not covered. Not a real problem in fine weather or when there is no dust or sea spray in the air. It is a convenience carry-case and not a protective cover. It has well-protected the camera in a low-level drop on to a concrete floor. But would be less useful when walking past fixed objects if you didn't move your hips properly.

I can recommend the case for carrying the camera and leaving hands free, but I suggest that in more testing conditions another more enveloping case would be more suitable.

LOL. That is a very visual description but much the way I feel about it too.

Guys, I bought the Kata DL-ZP-6 which takes the GR easily.

There is a little extra flap inside that takes a spare battery, memory card and cleaning cloth.

The camera goes on its side in the pouch and there is a little bit of room, to fill this space I have ordered a Manfrotto MP1-C01 pocket tripod which I'm going to leave permanently attached to the Ricoh.

Happy days.

I use the GC-5 and works fine though i dont like it much. but doesnt add any bulk onto the camera and keeps debris and dust off.

what im interested though is, has anyone seen this "Nano Universe" bag?

apparently it was a ricoh promotion only in japan. and its look pretty awesome to me. I would love to know where to get it. ebay doesnt show it.

Yeah, nice size bag. I had a look around also & came up with nothing. Even Nano Universe don't carry them. Was just a promo sweetener for GR in Japan.

Hi Sub

I have got a pearstone 240. It is a snug fit with the JTEC L bracket. However without the bracket it fits like a dream. There is an outside pocket which is covered by the flap and this can hold about three batteries easily. It also has a small net cargo pocket inside for the card.

The really good thing is that it has a belt flap that you can undo and is secured with velcro and a small clip press stud clip as a safety.

Cheers
