Portrait of Kiran

I made this image of my friend, Kiran, on Monday during a blustery snow shower. PP in CS5, with original (B&W jpg) here just for comparison. Just trying to get the new year off to a good Ricoh start. :D

Great processing! You transformed somewhat boring photo into an impressive piece of art worth hanging on the wall. Thanks for sharing!

Well done , Ken !
Nothing to add to the comment of Pavel. He is sooooo right.

Cheers,
JONIE

>mainiac: LOL! I must admit that the PP'd version is quite a bit darker here on the forum than on my screen. But a sow's ear?

>Jonie: Many thanks!

I cannot than agree it might be a bit lighter. As about the opinion the processing is great I have no objections. :)

>Duane: I shot in B&W jpeg and RAW, but only used the jpeg in CS5. To make a long story short: I used layers, adjusted levels slightly, upped the contrast a bit, used the healing brush to get rid of unwanted snow (it looked like dandruff), added a little vignetting, then burned the hell out of the area surrounding Kiran!

>Orol: Thanks for the comment. I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced uploading an image to the forum, and having it appear darker than how it was on their own system?

I like the "look" very much. The quality of the image may have been even better if you'd shot from closer in to get the maximum benefit from the lens / available pixels on the sensor.
