I finally managed to visit the newish Riverside Museum in Glasgow. A highly recommended museum for transport junkies - and it's free entry and take as many photos as you want (even with flash although I didn't).

Absolutely great! The building is awesome, the British vintage cars and locomotives are first class and so are your shots. I'm amazed how noise free the interior shots turned out at ISO 1600 and ISO 3200.

I agree with Michael. Its a very unusual piece of architecture but works well. I wonder what the shape is meant to represent. Looks bit like a hand to me.

Thank you. I was keen to see what the GXR could do indoors at a high ISO and was pleased with the results I posted. I took most of the shots in a manual setting including focus and white balance so in some ways it's like having an 'm' module! For me this is one of the big differences between the GXR A12 50 and my GRD4 which I tend to use in AP with AF.

I'm not sure what Zaha Hadid had in mind when she designed the building but she did a striking job and it doesn't suffer from that stuffy atmosphere you find in some modern buildings. It cost an eye watering £75 000 000!

Here is another exterior shot with the masts of the Glenlee reflected in the glass with ribbons of interior lights:



This is a picture of a Hillman Imp - made in Scotland! - and my first ever car....mine was green but I love this blue. It was well ahead if its time.



Finally a couple of pictures from inside a subway (metro) carriage. The Glasgow subway is the 3rd oldest in the world. I didn't quite nail the focus with 'no spitting'.





Anyway, if you come to Scotland, make time for Glasgow, it is a great city.

A very nice set from a building I really must visit! When I last saw this collection it was still in its old home, and which I suspect means it was before digital photography was available to the masses!
The 'model cars' shot really gives one a stunning impression of the new museum concept with only the glass wall between the cosseted collection and their natural environment. I think the natural light works well here in this space and, like Michael, I am very impressed with the quality of the high-iso performance of the A12 50mm module.
Thanks for sharing! I truly cannot remember the last time I saw a Hilman Imp...
