Hi I'm new to the forum but not new to photography or the GR camera.
I studied photography at Birmingham (UK) Polytechnic in the 1970's (yes I'm old school). I worked in various areas of photography, studio, advertising, PR, social, wedding, and journalism.
I bought the Ricoh GR, when it first appeared on the market and it was never out of my pocket. Even when I shot film I always wanted a camera of quality, I could keep in my pocket. And putting it in my pocket was the death of my GR. It went crazy, the menus flickered and twitched of their own accord. Fear of repair-cost kept it in a draw until I had spare funds to repair it.
Time passed and I forgot about it. I retired and stopped working. Now I spend time in Italy where the light and subject matter is really good and inspiring. So I bit the bullet and sent my GR off to Rudiger Maerz in Hamburg who did a great job in every way. Communication, speed and efficiency was first class in repairing my GR. They even pointed out that what I thought was a Ricoh GRII was in fact an original APS-C GR.
Has anybody else had the same experience as me, in that the camera became dirty inside and needed a new back, screen and a good clean?
