Spode,
Nice photo and I viewed the exif and have a question.
I see your using M mode and I'd be interested in knowing why.
Just curious.....don

I originally shot this in Snap Mode Aperture Priority (My 1 setting). Did not like the capture ... so in haste, switched to My 3 (Multi, Manual), quickly changed ISO, set aperture and shutter speed and fired. I could have tried a number of times with My1 but was afraid I'd lose the moment and maybe the subject altogether.

I'm glad those My modes are yours and not My My Modes. I never use them and I really want to but I just can't do it.
I find, especially with the Gr more than any other camera I have to work on the fly.
So I'll play with snap distance and aperture to get the DOF I feel at the moment. In A mode the camera will set shutter speed and Auto ISO up to 6000.

So I think for me this is very fast but I want to keep an open mind, thus the reason I asked you.
I was very curious how you dealt with M Mode. On the GRD4, the MOTHER OF ALL STREET CAMERAS, in M Mode and Auto ISO.....there is nothing faster or better. Faster than any of my Leica's.
The issue for me on the GR is that I can't set Auto ISO in M Mode......It locks you into 3 points of exposure without an escape by using the EV. If you found a workaround, you'll be rich and famous......

Silly Ricoh engineers drinking with the Pentax engineers.......shame on both of them.....

Sorry for question, i'm still waiting for my GR so no experience here: but in TAv mode where you select time and aperture, tbere is auto iso which works like in M mode of gr4 , is it right?

I don't have GRIV (I only have the new GR) but I believe the answer to your question is yes.

TAv = manual shutter speed, manual aperture, auto-iso

This is correct but you can't limit the ISO. So if your not paying attention the GR will send the ISO up to regions that aren't very pretty.
I was using A mode all week and I seem to be checking the meter on the screen and not the image. Unacceptable! Now I'm back to TAv and I'm watching my photo more in this mode almost acceptable. This weekend I'll try one last time to deal with the issue at hand.
The life saver in TAv mode is being able to use EV. Once you get to EV, you can use the Zoom Rocker, the front dial or the command dial up/down. You can release at any point watching your EV/Histogram doing its thing.
Then just hit OK to get back to start. This feature alone so far is saving my camera from eBay.

I'm not panicked because the worst case scenario is I return to the GRD4 that does everything the right way.

The point is to be able to trust the camera to work within limits so that you just make your exposure the way you feel. This allows concentration on the image and not the tool making it.
For me, the camera is not a tool but a companion to make images with.
