Nice "look"

Read about the Swedish photographer Kalle Gustavsson and found the look of his images to my liking:

I have a hard time to put my finger on it but they have that "old magazine look" to them that I like. Don't know how they are processed but here on the forum I think Pavel has been close to this on some of his pictures too so he might be able to share some light on the subject :)

Nice find! These photos are definitely great! I like their look and atmosphere. I'm afraid, my photos are far from these artistic images ;) But yes, I recognize similar color tint as used in some of my photos.

As you probably know, I'm editing all my photos in Silkypix. The easiest way to get some interesting results is to use its color filters. For example, the purple "film-like" tint can be achieved with "Film V1" or a bit stronger "Film K" filter. But this is only a first step. Another very useful tool in Silkypix toolbox, which is a very good helper in achieving film-like look is Tone Curve. There is no certain rule how to use it. Just experiment with it ;)

On the following pics you can see how the Color Curves improves the overall look of the photo:

Here is the photo without curves:

And here with applied curves:

And one more example.

Also, if you want to achieve the film like look, decrease the contrast. Digital cameras produces much contrast images than film. So it's good to make the digital files a bit less contrast.
