Hi

Just joined the forum as I picked up my CX1 today. I started off with a bit of a wobble as the first one had something wrong with the lens/focusing system, but the second one is great!

My main gear is Pentax DSLR + lenses, and I've always had a small P&S for those times I don't lug around my main kit, but they have always frustrated the heck out of me with their clunky interfaces and so sloow operation. :x A couple of friends have Ricoh's so I decided to try one out and was immediately hooked! :D

Although I'm a Raw shooter and Silkypix user, I decided to pass on the GRD and GX200 as they didn't quite tick all my boxes and do cost more, okay the CX misses out on Raw and manual controls, but I'm happy to live with decent JPEG and it's configurable user settings. I love the ergonomics!

No sensible first shots as yet but hopefully some may appear shortly! ;)

Best regards
Richard

Hello Richard and welcome on board! Nice to see another Ricoh and Silkypix user! Enjoy the forum and don't hesitate to ask any question you may have about CX1 or anything else. And of course, we are all eager to see some of your photos (not necessarily taken with the Ricoh ;) ).

Richard,

I'm also a CX1 & silkypix user, a great combination if I may say so :D

Looking forward to seeing a few photo's from you.

Best wishes,

David

I agree! :D It may seem strange that a Raw converter would be useful with JPEG's, but Silkypix has a lot of useful features that work really well if needed.

I shall be posting some shots in the next few days. ;)

Best

Hi Pavel. Thanks for your welcome message. :)

As a fellow moderator on the SIlkypix forum, and friendly with John Nevill (Silkypix UK), another Ricoh user, I guess we share similar opinions. ;)

One feature that I've always missed with modern compact cameras is the lack of an eye level viewfinder and not many have clip on optical or EVF's, including the CX series, so I did some google'ing and found that there are quite a few Panasonic users of the ClearViewer device http://clearviewer.com/socket.html. They have made a version for the GRD, but there is no mention of it on this forum.

Anyway, I've just ordered one for my CX and will report on my findings after I get it, which I expect will be in 3/4 weeks time, it may be of interest to other CX & R users who who like to use eye level finders especially for use in bright light.

In the meantime there are some macro shots that will need my attention over the next couple of days!

Richard
