need the smallest and lightest flash for Ricoh gr v

hi guys I'm looking to buy a external flash and need something light and small. ? Do you have any recommendations

I've had the Metz 20 too and it was fine as a manual flash although don't expect too much power/range or battery life. Now days I use the Ricoh GF-1 which is great for TTL metering but it is MASSIVE on a GR and even LARGE on the GXR it was designed for. The GF-1 was mega expensive (mine was bought cheaply via eBay of course 2nd hand) but there are discounts around at the moment.

I also consider to buy the pf20xd. It has some good reviews and is probably the smallest flash with this kind of features...

GUys I have a problem . when I put the sumpak flash external in the hotshoe. it seems that it wont detect the camera and only do pre flash and it would sync together with the internal flash. Problem is I cannot disable the internal flash. both flash would go off. is there a setting where in I can just disable the strob internal?

Re: need the smallest and lightest flash for Ricoh GR

I recently purchased the Sunpak PF20XD and the size of the flash when paired to the GR is so proportionate to each other. Aside from its portability which is the reason why I bought this flash, the remote flash feature of the PF20XD is also helpful if you want to shoot off-camera flash photography.

I also found the Meike MK300 flash looks also good. It is fully manual hand has a higher GN than the sunpak.

I finally bought the fujifilm ef-x20 flash. Works perfect so far and is very very small. Probably the smallest with GN 20

Can you comment on how it works with the GR? Does it work as an on camera flash or only as an off camera flash in conjunction with the flash on the GR?

Similarly, does either of the Sunpak PF20XD or Metz 20 work on the camera?

I'm trying to find the easiest to use flash with the GR. Your input would be much appreciated! (also, if the flash will also work with a Fuji x100s or Nikon DF that'd be a big plus!)

It works on the camera, because it's fully manual. But you can also use it as a slave off camera flash works great.

The PF20xd will work on all the three cameras you mentioned because the flash has a sensor on his own to mesure flash output. The ef-x20 will also work with every camera but you have to set the output manually. On the x100s you would have full ttl metering.

I decided for the much more expensive fuji flash because first of the size it's very small and second because of the build quality, also it has a great 21mm diffuser. It's also very quit and with eneloop batterys it recharges very quickly when not set to full power.

Hope I could help if you have further questions just ask :)

Wow thanks a lot! Using information from several forums I've been visiting and what you've written, I decided to get a Fuji EF-X20 and Nikon SB-30 which I got both on ebay for a pretty good deal. From what it sounds like, the EF-X20 is very compact in size and can be used off camera as a slave much like the other flashes you guys have mentioned. I really only got the SB-30 because the deal was too good to pass up and it looks like it'll be a nice little flash to use with my DF, which will enable me (hopefully) to be able to trigger the EF-X20.
