My Street Photos

Hello all,

Thought I'd make this thread to post my street shots once in a while. For start, below is a series of photos taken in Vienna last year. Hope you enjoy, I will try to post every now and then

Since I linked them from flickr, the EXIF is not shown but I can tell you that all were taken with the Voigtlander 15, except the last three ones where I used the S10 module.

Cheers

Cristian,
To start....if you don't like what I post, pm me and I'll delete and not post on the thread.
That being said....your off to a good start. There's something getting ready to happen in some of the images but the timing is slightly off....
MORE IMPORTANTLY!...the tonal range is distracting to the image content. The high values draw the eye in an uncontrolled manner.

Using high contrast and or an elevated high value works but only if it's very carefully controlled... Eye travel is everything and must be controlled by the shooter. It's the language. So, look at your images and see the high values..... see the syntax and inflection...

I make myself available to you anytime or not...your choice....

Very nice set. I enjoyed looking at them. You capturing the right moments. This is one of the most important things. In a flood of impressions you are cutting out importance including a bit of humor. But I wonder how you frame your pictures. From the hip? Using the screen? What is your experience with it?
Cheers

wspeed and 125tel, thanks, glad you liked them. More than half indeed are shot from the hip or raising the camera a bit up to my chest, framing is a hit and miss but little by little am getting used to the angle of view of the different focal lengths and how to point the camera up and down. Guess it will never be perfect. I use zone focusing or snap focus, that works ok. I don't use the LCD when composing this type of photos, would take too long to check or raise attention (which is what I don't want to). Still a work in progress :)

streetshooter, appreciate your comment, absolutely, please feel free, there's always something to learn! And this is why I posted them, to hear how others see them / opinions. I understand what you're saying, and there is a long way to go until I will actually "chase" an action or sit for something to happen but maybe not my style, although have tried this as well and it is a rewarding experience - being able to predict what's gonna happen and then position yourself for the shot, into the best light, etc. I did this but generally I am just a travel / landscape shooter. For the moment, referring to street style, I just try to take images surrounding me, events as they unfold, maybe "document" at first. You know, walk before you run :D
Regarding the contrast, I must say I pretty enjoy how the black and white processing turned out in Raw Photo Processor, I was even telling myself it did a good job preserving all the details while not raising up the highlights - as far as I remember the histogram was just in the middle, oh well, I will revisit them one day and see if I still like them.

Two more... first one is with the M mount and the Voigtlander Skopar-C 35mm- this one I actually framed through the EVF

and this one below with the former Pentax K7 and the 15 mm Ltd - I posted this one more to ilustrate the type of street that I like at the moment / explained above.

Thank you Genster!

Adding two more taken on the same street, during the last year holiday shopping rush. I liked the contrast between the two pair of people...

A small update after a long time :)

Couple of shots from Poland earlier this year. All taken with the S10 module.

A nice set of pictures some more interesting some other less (but probably is since I'm not able to 'read' their message...) in any case thank you for sharing!

I like it that you get in nice and close and personal....especially in your first post. In regards to the processing........it is growing on me. The over-bright highlights seem to (now) act as a counterffoil for the backs..

Overall, I enjoyed looking at this post. Thanks for sharing. Keep them coming.

PS.....#2 and #4 I think are really excellent captures of a moment.

Many thanks for the comment Peter, appreciate it!

I know am not a street shooter and I dont' actively "chase" these but occasionally I come across some life moments. Below a couple from a vacation in Greece this past summer.
