All taken today with A12 and Tamron 35-70 CF macro. Nice sharp lens, and nice to use.

Marcus,

Thanks for posting (both topics) - I'm quite interested in the M module so it's great to see examples of what can be done especially using lenses that I could consider purchasing (ie not ones called Leica, Zeiss etc). I liked the first shot (of the bridge) and the last (in colour) of this set the most. How are you finding the focusing with the 'M'? Are you using an EVF or just the screen? You've clearly done some research on non-M fit lenses that work and are good value.....the Canon FDs look good but I was also wondering about Olympus OMs as these are relatively compact & light while still being good quality...happy to hear views.

Richard

Nice work Marcus, I like #1 for the style particularly.
I am trying to work out where you are? I feel I have been there.

Thanks for the comments guys.....

Richard: Same for us also on the lenses (Leica, Zeiss etc). Way out of our price range. There's just so many other lenses that can be used....the list is almost endless.
The Canon FD is (as mentioned in another post) considerably sharp, but suffers terrible glare. We got a Canon adapter first only because it's mostly what my lens collection consists of. I have a couple of Olympus lenses as well (50mm 1.8, 1.4) and these are the ones I'm really looking forward to trying out, particularly the 1.4. Very light and very good. Most of the lenses I have I've picked up either on their own or with bodies attached for around $10 each from second hand shops. The 1.4 I found unused in original packaging for $5!.....
I find the focus peaking function excellent (never used one before), give it a couple of hundred shots to get used to though. (Probably just me, need new glasses!)
No EVF yet, but after using the GX with EVF, I am looking forward to trying one out on the GXR. (Try finding one in Oz at present......)

Tim: It's the revamped version of Darling Harbour, Sydney.

Marcus,

Thanks very much for your comments above - I look forward to seeing some shots with the OM lenses when you are set-up...I used to own the 50mm 1.4 and it was a great lens so as a '75' mm it should be really good for portraits. Second hand OMs down to 21mm (ie 30ish on the GXR) are easy enough to source here and beyond that there is always the GRD4 with the DW6 for those odd really wide occasions. So my mind is more or less made up and I'm on the hunt for a good value M & GXR body.

Ahh, thought I knew the area. Is that the IMAX cinema in the background - the curved building?
Is the old Russian sub still docked at the Maritime Museum?

very nice and clean shots. I recognise the harbour too. We stayed in the Shangri La a couple of years ago. In fact we are back again next year (June & July) and intend to spend longer in Sydney than we did before. Great city and one that I want to re-shoot.

cheers

The IMAX it is Tim. And the Russian sub is still there. I got a shot of it but was shooting into the sun, the image unusable. Next time!

Thanks Peter..... Good to know you've been here, even better you're coming back. We need more Ricohs on the streets over here! ;)
