Nevin, I have to ask, was this setup? I am wonder as I like the way the three people's position form a kind of arrow that mimics the one on the ground.
If not its an image you could wait days for and never see, a kind of HCB moment!
Oh BTW: I really like the viewpoint and your framing and centering is just right IMO.
this image is wonderful! a true classic. composition and timing coudnt be better, and the figures are interesting, espesally the one in the hat
Thank you, folks! Tim, it wasn't a setup. I was walking along a footbridge which went right over the scene. I stopped and waited. This was the sixth shot. Lucky, wasn't?
Ricohnick, thank you for the compliments. Only if the steps of the lady had been in tandem with those of the rest.
Nice one! The absence of bridge shadow makes it really intriguing I would only crop out the shadow in the upper right corner. Just a small annoyance in overall nice pic
Thank you, Peter. I visited the place again this week and realised that on my first visit there, it had to be the good mood which caused me to notice the scene and wait and take the shot. The shot somehow reflects my state of mind at the moment.
Dear all,
The news may have spread among some of you. But as the Ricoh GX200 is my first sortie from film to the digital era, and it has once again won me a prize, I think it right to make a humble note to my fellow Ricoh users here that with the photo posted above I luckily won the grand prize in the Leica X Swire Hotels photo contest. The contest was open to participants around the world for shots taken in Beijing and Hong Kong for the respective theme. Hong Kong's theme is HK Views from the Top.
I won myself a Leica X1. The photo is being put on an exhibition in Hong Kong until 19 March (updated). Shown alongside are the commissioned photos for the project and the other four winning shots from Hong Kong and Beijing. The exhibition will move to Beijing afterwards.
Again, this photo was taken with my over 3 y.o. Ricoh GX200. The image character is uniquely of Ricoh's. At the opening cocktail party, I met people from the organisers and a number of them agreed and admired the low-profile feel of the image character. If you are an aspirant Ricoh user, try one and you won't be disappointed (of course, you still need to consider your shooting style to be sure).
