Leica D-Lux 4

Anyone had a chance to use the Leica D-Lux 4? Not the Lumix sister, the original one. Thanks

What you mean with "original one"? D-Lux 4 is only a more expensive LX3 with leica badge minus grip. Oh yes and slightly different default color ballance. But that's it.

Thanks for the answer. My dilemma is if it there is a difference between the Leica and the Lumix. I kwnow that you spend more money buying the Leica Logo, but I suppose there will be a "subtle" diference between the two of them. Had you have the chance to use the D-lux 4? I´m looking around to buy something really good that shot in Raw with a 50 mm normal lens.

Sorry to disappoint but the only difference, subtle or not, is the design and the, as Pavel, said "slightly different default color ballance". Hardware-wise there is absolutely no difference. I'd say the subtle difference is in the feeling in holding something with the Leica brand on it.

I don't believe there is a significant difference. My option was to buy the LX3 when given the choice If the price were the same, would have purchased the Leica. For what it's worth, the Leica might have better software. I'm not happy with Silkypix. Just discovered it will not read jpegs from my GRDI.

Either way, it's a really nice camera, and my "other" serious compact.

Eric, this is because the Silkypix shipped with Panasonic cameras is limited to just Panasonic cameras Full version of Silkypix can open any supported file.

The DL4 feels just like a Panasonic to me... I didn't care for it. Yes, it looks better and that is why I bought it...but ultimately, it is still just a Panasonic. The Leica does come with a better warranty though ....

i was told that quality control testing and calibration settings were much more stringent and thorough in the leica , and that the processing of the image was different [ color balance?] the warranty was better the software was better , this i was told by a guy at B&H photo in ny.

it is a panasonic ......... just as the leica CL was a minolta

This is all true, but really not as huge of a difference as the cash difference.
