Last Flowers of Summer

Paul Jenkin

New Member
Taken last year with my Nikon F5, 35mm f2 and a roll of Fuji Reala 100. The blur is there because it was windy, the film was a bit too slow for the late afternoon shade and I didn't have my tripod with me. That said, I'm reasonably pleased with how it came out...

hello there Paul ... i have not at all a problem to view your image with the blur , i see it as lovely , soft colours and most soothing to view, even the thorns look harmless  a very relaxing and even comforting image ;)

Cheers - Kort .

I like the picture as well, Paul. Very good composing and fine colours.

Cheers,

nice to see someone using film. What scanner are you using?

Thanks for the supportive comments, guys.

As far as scanning goes, I use an Epson V750 (without the liquid mount thingy) via VueScan. I create a TIFF file, do my dusting and tidying up with the healing tool in Photoshop CS3 and then add a few adjustment layers (as appropriate) to get the right "look". I do as little sharpening as possible as I don't want the grain to start looking gritty and like digital noise, then re-size and save a version for posting.

Sounds a lot but it usually takes aout 5-10 minutes maximum and I usually only create digital files from 4-5 shots off each roll of 36 or 12 if I'm using 120. I've just got a 4x5 field camera, so this will probably be a 1:1 ratio for post processing but I'm aiming to get a good shot every time with that camera. It won't happen, of course, but it's got to be the objective.
