I am a lucky man; I got the new A12 GR28mm

I got at my local photoshop here in Copenhagen, and I payed 4.300 D.kr.. The shop called the Danish agent, and he said that he had a sample sent express from Japan that I could buy.
 
Hi kjoebek and welcome on the board! You are definitely a lucky man! You got it sooner than many Japaneses ;) Nice first samples! How do you like it so far? Is there something you actually don't like on 28mm module?

you lucky one, i am almost jealous but i am happy for you and thank`s for the pictures. Now there is no doubt about it.
I will get one as soon as they are in the shops. Great pictures.

You sure are. Loads of envy here.

The pics look very good even at ISO 3200 very clean.

I'm pretty sure I'll jump the GXR bandwagon as soon as this baby is available in the Netherlands.

Thanks for the post and pics.
I've tried today the 28mm unit at the "Salon de la photo" in Paris.
The lens seems very good from center to corners, very sharp, and the B&W mode looks also very nice.
The AF was very fast with high contrast subject ... but very slow (!) in low contrast situation. I don't know the firmware of the unit I've tested.

What can you tell us, please, about AF speed in low light ?

If you are shooting street, then use the the "snap-mode", but it is true that it is slow in low contrast, and the pre-focus use lot of battery.

Yes, I also tried yesterday the snap mode and it works great like in the GRDIII. Good point.

What I didn't like very much was that the lens opens really like a compact. You have to wait at least 2 seconds after pushing the "on" button to get ready. Even more than with the GRD.
But I know ... the gxr IS a compact ... with great sensor, pro handling and very sharp lens. Perfection is not for tomorrow :-)
 
Hi Nowhereman and welcome here! I'm afraid, A12 modules are not equipped with DR mode. Only P10 module has this mode (under Scene mode).
 
Great set of GXR photos Rick! Nice to see Ricoh changed the design of A12 lens cap to much more user friendly design ;) I hated the original lens cap of A12 50mm. Yesterday, I finally managed to lose it. Sadly, I found it today ;)

The new (old?) cap is ok, but, it still kind of comes loose in my bag. I keep the strap wound around it, so it does not pop off.
