How to set 1/180s shutter speed?

This is likely the dumbest question I've yet posted on a forum, but I cannot figure out how to set the shutter speed to 1/180s on the GXR.

Considering that 1/180s is the maximum sync shutter speed for external flash units, I thought there would be an easy way to dial it in. But, with the camera's 1/3 stop setting methodology, I seem to be limited to using 1/160 (since the next setting is 1/200). Anyone found the magic formula for setting 1/180? that extra 1/20s is rather important, given the relatively slow flash sync speed in this camera. Thanks.

I don't think this can be done. The shutter speed and aperture steps are 1/3rd of a stop only. You can set exposure compensation to 1/2 but contrary to Canon this doesn't change the shutter and aperture steps but only the compensation steps (in A and P modes by the way, in S it remains 1/3).

Hi Remko:

Thanks for the reply. Every other camera I've ever seen has a special 'flash sync' speed setting, if the maximum sync speed falls in the "gap" between standard shutter speeds. Look at film Leica's for example -- they have full-stop shutter clicks, but they have a special click at 1/50s for the flash sync.

I would have thought Ricoh might have had some such feature buried deep in a menu somewhere -- but I never could find it. Sounds like it might not exist? Odd.
