Well, my name is Josh as you can see from my username. I just purchased a used Ricoh GR V on eBay (it should be here in a day or two). I've been wanting a fixed lens digital camera for a while and I offloaded some gear/gadgets and had enough to finally grab something. I was debating offloading my RX-100 MK I and getting the MK III, but decided to keep the MK I and grab the Ricoh. The only thing I'm worried about is the reason why I kind of dislike my RX-100 MK I is.. no viewfinder, I just feel a disconnect from the camera without the ability to put it up against my eye. I did purchase one of those cheap viewfinders from eBay, so hopefully that'll keep me happy and eventually lead into the purchase of a better one.

Aside from the obvious quality of the Ricoh, I like that the brand has a cult following/loyalty, that they update their cameras far past what the big companies do and that there are small communities like this to be apart of.

As far as the style of shooting I do, it's honestly a bit of everything. You can see my work on my site and blog www.joshsouzaphotos.com and blog.joshsouzaphotos.com (both are tumblr pages if you wanna follow)

Anyways, hello and I look forward to getting the camera in my hands!

Hi Josh and welcome to a small but friendly forum. I like your scapes, have fun with the GR, and show us more. BTW, the GR is sold now at Adorama and B&H bundled with a good viewfinder at a reasonable price - at least that's what I've seen advertised.

Welcome here Josh, enjoy the forums, and do not hesitate to post photos here as we are eager for images from all over the globe.
Good stuff in your portfolio, btw. I have mainly enjoyed the seascapes as there is no sea near around here.

Thanks for the welcome guys. Got my camera today.. the menus and whatnot are pretty intense, a lot more complex then my Sony gear.

Sad news. It was quite a short affair then. Strange, Ricohs seem to suffer from this disease relatively a lot comparing to other brands; or is it just my feeling? I do no know but having been owning a few various digital systems with retractable fixed lenses (Oly, Canon, Sony) I have never met a dust speck yet. Is it just a good luck?
