Wanted to step up and say "hi". Recently purchased my first Ricoh digital - a used GRD. First version. Software fully updated. Wanted something that was small and rugged. Needed a camera that could hang around my neck while cycling. Or easily pop in and out of a bag. Have an LX3, which is nice, but there are enough quirks to make it not the best in those categories.
Came to digital from using a rangefinder (yes, I have one of those.) The demise of the one hour processor has forced me to use digital pretty much exclusively these days.
Other hobbies include cycling and trains. Got back into cycling a few years ago to lose weight. Always been a "train buff/spotter". Of course, the GRD is not the classic camera for trains. However, it does make one think and compose differently. (Much, if not most, classic train photography was done with a 50mm equivalent lens).
