Hi David and welcome here! I think the best GRD3 B&W results could be achieved with RAW processing. But of course, you can take some nice B&W photos also in JPEG. It's just that the GRD3 B&W is nowhere as good as GRDI (grainy) B&W. Actually, no GRD after GRDI has similarly good B&W But thanks to RAW, one can dramatically improve the results.
