GXR S10 + HDR

Hi everybody,

I'm trying to do HDR photography with my gxr s10.
But it seems that gxr only permits a 3 frame auto-bracketing (correct me if i'm wrong)

if for instance, i would like to do 5 frames. does it mean that i would have to do a manual bracketing?

Thanks in advance for all your replies.

Terence

Hi Terence,

Yes, the Auto BKT is fixed to just 3 frames. The manual "bracketing" is the only way to go if you need more frames for computer-based HDR processing.

Just an aside, regarding HDR with the P10. Lately I've done a lot of single image HDRs and the files react very well.

Is that from a RAW image?

I have tried both. In general you can do better with raw, but I have been surprised at how well some jpegs respond. I have been using HDRExpress. Now for most of my P10 images I will try it as single image HDR before I decide how to proceed. All of this work has been with color images so far.

Is it a must that we always shoot HDR images in RAW?
I'm still new to HDR. But I'm very much attracted to the vivid images captured by some experts I saw.

You don't have to use raw. Trey Radcliff (stuckincustoms.com) one of the most visible evangelists of HDR uses jpegs for his multiple image HDR work. He uses raw for his single image work. He has a nice free video on his site on how he processes in Photomatix - well worth a look
