GX200 macro shots from sunny Israel

Here is few shots from my vacation.

I bought my first Ricoh camera at last month for my vacation trip and since then I've been practising photographing and photoshop editing. I have done nearly nothing with these pictures, just a little bit tweaking with photoshop RAW editor ( first image doesn't actually have any tweaking ) and I noticed that "smart sharpen" filter works pretty well too. Been surfing a lot in internet to find good tips for editing. I also installed some custom RAW profiles for GX200 which seems to work well in some situations.

Btw. is it possible to edit EXIF information in photoshop? Or what would be a best way to correct dates in EXIF. My date settings were completely wrong.... newbie problems, hehe :)

Very nice colours. I like the way you did with this shots. What settings are you using for the JPGs? Or are they RAW converted?

Regards

Thanks! :)

GX200 has really amazing Macro capabilities. My friends who are more experienced photographers ( they have big Canon dsrl guns and have won several photo competitions ) were really stunned about image quality of GX200. Ricoh is not known here where I live.

I've been using Scene -> Zoom Macro for the first image. It gives very special colors some times. Normal macro mode seems to give more "natural" colors.

As a beginner I've been using Auto mode a lot. For macro 2 I used manual zoom and other pics were with auto zoom I guess. Well, camera was so new for me that I just tried different kind of settings to see what happens.

Manual zoom seems to be best for moving things.

These are RAW converted. I have used RAW profiles ( + adobe's profile ) from this site:

... not much more. I noticed that auto settings work pretty well.

Nice photos! I really like macro 2 and 5. Especially 5 is great for its colors and atmosphere. The golden reflections and out of focus rendering are superb!

I can't help you with your exif problem in photoshop, but maybe you can try Phil Harvey's Exiftool? It's a very good and capable EXIF reader/editor. Its downside is command line user interface ;) But I'm sure you can find some GUIs for it.

Thanks for the feedback and info. :)

I will try Exiftool - command line UI is just fine.
