GRD iv lens wont retract and I can't take pictures

Okay, so I've been looking around teh interwebz and found nothing about this.

A few weeks ago I was in Barcelona and, as you're prone to do, went to the beach for some beach related stuff. I had my GRD iv with me and, of course, stupid sand blew all over it. I didn't drop it or anything, I just snapped a couple of pictures and I kept it in my bag, but you know how sand is: freakin annoying is how it is. Anywho, I managed to brush most of the sand of and it worked fine for the rest of the trip (save for the fact that oly half of the built in lens cap-thingie would close). And it worked fine until this weekend when all of a sudden the lens refused to retract when I power off, I can't take any pictures because the LCD-display just flashes once and then the camera shuts down. The preview mode works but nothing else.

Does anyone have any idea what might be up? Can I clean it myself or should I just leave it to the professionals?

I had exactly the same happen with my GRDIII I dropped it on a beach and then a month later it wouldnt retract.

I sent it to Ricoh via https://ricoh.rma-request.com
Even though it was out of warranty and i have no proof of purchase, they fixed, serviced it and returned it free-of-charge.

i hope they do the same for you
