Graphic Composition

Made it with one of the first photos taken whit GX200. The original photo is at the down left corner, and made the composition with rotation and flip tools.

Maybe the result wouldn't be different if taken with R4, but it was the camera I had with me

I love the hight contrast we can get from a digital camera and a direct light source

Great one Rui! Very artistic. I can imagine a series of three images in this style on the wall!

There is just one thing I don't really like on this photo and some other of your (but not only your) photos. I found the watermark placed in the center of the photo a very obtrusive. I see why people use this kind of "protection". But on the other hand, if the photo is too small to be really useful for print (like yours), I don't really see a reason for it? Anyone who will eventually steal your photo can use it only for web. Yes, it's bad. But I think it's not that bad as a distracted view of innocent viewer who is interested in your photos? Can you imagine a signature "H. C. Bresson" in the middle of each of his wonderful photos? ;) I just feel that any kind of visible watermark makes the photo seriously corrupted. At least in my eyes. But maybe it's just me?

Thank you, Pavel!

I fully agree with you, the watermark is obstrusive. I don't like it either. But it's the only way I can post photos on the web now.

You gave a very good argument with HCB example. But the problem for me, now, it's the lack of respect from users all over the web (pros & amateurs). I apologize to those who might feel upset but, today it seems that most of the web users feel that if posted is free to take. So, what can we do? :?

In the end, what will be worst? To upload watermarked photos, or not to post at all? The off centered watermarks, especialy in plain colors/background are very easy to crop or clean, and even in a small size it can be used somehow.

Of course that we know that concepts, ideas, can be taken too... ;)

Maybe when my day of fame comes I won't feel the need to be so defensive?

I have read about some software that encrypts a watermark invisibly into each photo - the problem here is it does not deter the copier as its not seen. Photoshop or a plugin can to do it - I can't quite remember? :? . Maybe the watermark in a corner would work better? =

Hello Rul Fernandes,

I like the graphically, balanced and well thought out black and white image. Many thanks for sharing with us.
Wish you can post more of your creations here.

I have another point of view regarding the use of my images on the web. Since the joy of sharing can bring
out the beauty in us I no longer create images for monetary returns especially when it is done at my own
leisure and pleasure.

When others use my images whether with or without my permission I feel am doing something good.
This makes happiness comes to me for the good that I have done for them.

It is not necessary that I must be a famous photographer before I can devote my talents in
photography to altruism and helping others.

However it is rare indeed to see some famous photographers practicing altruism for they are very much
attach to their images and do not want to be manipulated. They feel very upset for they not only take
great pride but unknowingly display their egoism or selfishness.

I rather be in a state of having more happiness when I can through my images create a beautiful experience
instead of a guilty feeling for these people. Their decision to use my images on the web or in any other
form would send my spirits soaring with goodness. :)
