GR Digital IV Battery life

Hi,

I have the experience that my GRD IV can take around 200 pictures without using flash (view pictures sometime). This is different from the spec claiming 390 pictures (based on CIPA standard).

Unfortunately, the GRD battery is rather small. If you would carefully follow the CIPA steps, I'm sure you would be able to take the claimed 390 shots. But I'm afraid, a real world usage is miles out of the CIPA usage So yes, 200 shots is about the value I would expect to get from the GRD battery under normal working conditions.

did somebody try to use 2 AAA battery instead of the standard battery ?

Works as a reserve, enough for 25 photos, tested with Panasonic alkaline cells.

When using on holiday last year I was getting around 250-270 from memory. I think for some of that time I had the screen off and was using viewfinder only. Also a mix of original and non original battery use throughout the holiday.

Hi,
No, I would not have used flash at all I don't think. I did go through a range of weather however from cold and wet to hot and bright.
